Q. What is the best way to eliminate Carpenter ants??
I have found the remains of ants and what lopoks like saw dust over a bathroom window upstairs in my house. I believe there is a nest above the window in the wall. I can not find a trail of them going back to the ground. What is the best way to eliminate them. Thanks
Thank you for contacting us. It is the best to try and identify the ants first. From what it seems like, it is a carpenter ant infestation since you witnessed sawdust.
However, since we are unable to evaluate the situation firsthand, it is difficult to say.
If you have a carpenter ant infestation, you may want to use something like carpenter ant kit
or Dupont Advion Ant Bait Gel
that targets most common house ant species.
Q. flying carpenter ants control?
couple of weeks ago i had a swam of flying ant on a window in my home. We sprayed now i have crawling ants that are not attracted to terro bait whatsoever. What is best
A. Swarmers usually do not feed on bait. We recommend using a liquid concentrate such as Phantom to spray the ants as a contact kill. Phantom has a residual time of up to 3 months.
Q. carpenter ants in wall...?
i want to kill the colony completely and have used foggers also. I am afraid it is in the walls, will this work
Thank you for contacting us with your question. For wall void treatment you can use Premise Foam and inject some of this termiticide/insecticide into the wall void area.
The Premise Foam will have a delay kill effect, similar to the bait gels which allows the pests to spread the poison with the other members that have not come across the pesticide.
This will eventually help you to get rid of the entire colony. How soon you will see results will depend on the initial size of the colony. The larger the colony, the longer treatment process may take.
Q. Carpenter Ants Killer?
Hi. I bought a 20 year old log cabin and found saw dust on the table in the kitchen, the living room, and basement closet rug. It's obvious there are several nests about the house. If no one has recognized the problem before me, that means as much as 20 years of ants doing damage. So far I haven't seen any ants, but spring is just arriving. What do you suggest for t treatment both inside and out. Is the Dupont product superior to the rest, or are they all pretty much the same? Thanks
For your ant problem, it seems like they are carpenter ants? Dupont ant bait gel
does target carpenter ants as well as other species of ants. Maxforce Carpenter ant gel
that is part of the Maxforce line is made specifically for carpenter ants. These are both bait gels that have proven to be highly effective in the pest control industry.
Q. Carpenter Ants are back?
We have recently dropped terminex after one year of spraying, etc for carpenter ants. The ants are back and seem to like our upstairs bathroom alot! Can you recommend something that won't poision our cat and dog? Thank you.
If you look on our website [www.pestmall.com], there are many products with the active ingredient called Fipronil. This is known to be one of the safest active ingredients on the market.
Some of the flea treatments that you would spray directly onto cats or dogs contain the active ingredient Fipronil.
Termidor, which is a insecticide/termiticide contains Fipronil, and also, we have a bait for the carpenter ants that also contains Fipronril.MaxForce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel is a gel form of a bait that poisons the stomach of the ants.
They will carry the bait back to their colony and it will ultimately wipe out the colony. Depending on the size of the colony and your infestation, the time period could take from one to three weeks.
If there is anything else I could assist you with, please let me know. Thank you.

Q. I had carpenter ants in my bathroom and saw where they were going in/out from. Brought an exterminator that sprayed Cy-kick and we then caulked area. Then they made their was into the kitchen. We found a nest outside in a crack by the foundation and sprayed there. Were over a week now and it seems as though I am constantly finding carpenter ants everywhere (but especially in the kitchen and bathroom). Suggestions? ?
A. We do recommend that you caulk all entry points. You should also consider using a bait like the Carpenter Ant Bait Gel and the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules. Baits will help you target the entire colony rather than just the ones that come in contact with the sprayed area.
Q. want to drill small hole put chemical in wall with syringe between all studs. Need to know which product would work this way. How much to use each stud. Like 1lb mix with 1 gal water. 1 half oz per stud. Thanks Bob?
A. In order for us to better assist you, please give us the pest that you are targeting and the name of the insecticide that you are planning to use.
Q. Carpenter Ants In Front Yard Tree?
I have found carpenter ants an old maple tree adjacent to my house. The distance from the tree and house is approximately 20 feet. Is there a concern for infestation into the house? Should the tree be treated to rid the ants? Can the tree be saved?
A. We recommend treating the maple tree with Termidor to ensure that the infestation does not spread. If it is an early infestation, the tree can be saved. Please be sure not to spray onto only ornamental trees.
Q. Is Advance Carpenter ant bait harmful to pets ??
A. Advance Carpenter Ant Bait should be used in locations that keep it out of reach from pets.
Q. carpenter ants in the house?
I have spotted carpenter ants in my kitchen, garage and in the front of my house. Would baiting be the best way to attack them? I am not sure where the nest is but it might be near the roof in the front of my house. They seem to also live in two of the palm trees I have in the front of my house.
A. Indoors, we always recommend baiting. Gel baits work the best because they can fill in cracks and crevices as well as cling onto vertical surfaces. Outdoor, however, we recommend spraying. Termidor SC is the best product to spray for carpenter ants. Although it is a termiticide, it will work to kill carpenter ants quickly and effectively.
Q. carpenter ant killer?
carpenter ants: i already have the KM ant pro stations filled with gourmet liquid ant bait....I found an ant next in a tree, where the ants are coming from into the house: I had a little leftover advance granules that i distributed near the tree, and used up some advion ant gel in the voids of the tree near the nest....my question is: any suggestions on what to use nest? more advion? maxforce ant gel? more granules or different granules? I also have the outdoor bait stations I've been using, filled with gel/granules, but these buggers are persistent! I finally tracked them down to the tree, however.
A. Keep in mind that you should not be using both granules and gels in the same place and the same time. Also, gels will easily breakdown in outdoor environments, unless they are kept protected in the bait stations. We recommend Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules if you are looking to use a bait outside. We also recommend spraying the tree with a product called Termidor. Termidor is an outdoor spray only and although it is best known as a termiticide, it is very effective for ants, especially carpenter ants.
Q. I live in a dorm room and I am seeing reoccuring winged carpenter ants. I'm sure they are not termites by what I have researched. I'm not sure why they would be in my dorm room, but they are often coming from the ceiling or from the window. There is no visible wood from the walls since they are cinderblock.?
Please help, It's really gross. I think their either attracted to warmth, because I first saw them when the AC shut off one day, or they are attracted to white since they were all over my white robe and white walls and white blanket. Thanks
A. They could be infesting the wall void area. If you are able to, we recommend contacting maintenance as it is a structural issue that must be dealt with. However, you should continue to keep up with indoor maintenance by keeping the room clean of any food sources. Carpenter ants are not attracted to the color white in particular and are not primarily attracted to the warmth, although warm temperatures may trigger them to become active. We recommend using baits like gel baits or granule baits. There are baits that are target specific for carpenter ants like the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait gel or the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait, which is a carpenter ant granule bait. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.
Q. gETTING RID OF CARPENTER ANTS IN qUEEN PALM TREES IN CENTRAL fLORIDA?
A. For outdoor treatment on ornamentation we would recommend Termidor SC or Phantom Insecticide for carpenter ant treatment.
Q. How long is the MaxForce gel good for??
I bought the Advance granules and MaxForce gel last summer to combat an infestation. After about a week no more ants!
There is still at least half a tube left of the gel. Will it still be effective this summer? I've noticed a few workers around on the pavement and just found one in the bathroom, so I'm preparing for another round.
A. Once the gel is opened, it is effective for a year.
Q. What is the most effective and least harmful way to pets to get rid of Carpenter Ants in the shed??
We have been seeing an increasingly abundant amount of swarmers in our pool and pool skimmer basket. In our shed we have observed what we believe to be frass. Our shed is old and will hopefully be replaced next summer as the wood is falling a part and we have had an exceptionally rainy season. In our family we have a beagle and chihuahua, as well as a five year old, so we need something safe for them.
A. If the shed is just a storage area outside you can safely use Termidor SC or Phantom Insecticide and spray along the walls of the shed. Once it has fully dried it is safe to reoccupy the area. Using a liquid contact kill spray would be best to use around small children or pets compared to bait poison.
Q. i keep seeing dead black ants in my car should i fumagate again ?
A. If you are continuing to see the ants it may require a second treatment for extermination. However there are alternative ways to fumigation such as baiting the ants with a bait poison.
