Need To Get Rid Of Stink Bugs?

New Stink Bugs-Kudzu Bugs Pictures

Stink bugs are approximately 0.68" long and are colored in shades of brown or green. Stink bugs are harmless to humans. However, they could become pests once they're in your home. Stink bugs, similar to skunks, release an unpleasant odor as a defense mechanism preventing predators from attacking, hence their name "Stink" Bugs. Moreover, stink bugs release this smell almost every time they land to ensure protection around them. The worst part is, the smell will last a very long time (up to 6 months!) and it will attract more stink bugs, creating a hibernating bin. Could you imagine if you had a stink bug infestation within your home? It is vital that you apply concentrated pesticides to get rid of them before your stink bug problem gets worse. For more information on the appropriate stink bug spray, please feel free to continue reading or do not hesitate to give us a call.

Stink Bug Treatment: Stink Bug Spray

Stink bugs will not only "stink" up your house, but they could also cause severe damage to your garden. Their diet usually portrays of fruits and vegetables (they have also been seen eating other smaller insects). Because of their picky eating habits, stink bugs nibble small bites here and there switching from fruit to fruit, vegetable to vegetable. Thus, potentially damaging your whole garden in just a couple of days. Like many other insects, stink bugs are also attracted to warmth, which is one of the reasons why these bugs are often found indoors. Because we have an idea of what the target areas are, we can use stink bug spray to spray in those target locations, both inside and outside of the house.

Stink Bug Control

When managing these pests, be sure to be careful. In addition to their horrible smell, stink bugs can also bite. In terms of stink bug insecticide and choosing which insecticide to go with all depends on the infestation location. There are various ways to treat stink bugs. If your outside garden is your main concern, you should look into permethrin concentrated insecticides which includes granules and stink bug sprays. If indoor infestation is your problem, you need cypermethrin concentrated sprays. Cypermetrhin based sprays can be used as a killer spray and repellent spray. Moreover, you should also look into dust and powder form insecticides. Applying dust and powder form insecticides can be very helpful covering crawl spaces and crevices. Ensure the control of your stink bug problem by combining different formats of insecticides.

Q. stink bug killer?
Will the V Clean Out effectively kill the stink bugs in my attic?
A.  Stink bugs are not included on the targeted pests list on the product label for V-Clean Out. Although they may rid of stink bugs for a short while, the product may not be targeting stink bugs and they may appear again. Foggers have a very short residual and may be ineffective for overwintering stink bugs that have made a home inside of yours.

As far as aerosol sprays go, CY-Kick Aerosol with a longer residual can be applied to cracks and crevices and liquid insecticides may be the most effective.

Liquid insecticides that you have to dilute with water, like Masterline Bifenthrin 7.9, have a longer residual and a larger coverage

Q. Stink bugs treatment?
are they harmful to pets? I have killed at least 12 of them I flushed them down the toilet and i'am very concerned when will i see exactly how many do i have. I really don't know what to get, ive been reading artictles everything i can find to read. I would like to get something but i don't want to harm my pets. are they out in the winter too? I believe the ones i have are females because they are brown if that is right , can you help me out I woild really appreciate it.
A.  Stink bugs are not harmful insects as far as biting people or animals.

Outdoors, you may see damage to your plants or crops. The reason why you are seeing them indoors is that they will overwinter inside.

Heat triggers them to come out and look for a way back doors, they are thinking that it is the spring time. So when the heaters turn on, you will see more of them come out.

Masterline Bifenthrin 7.9 is safe to use indoors and outdoors. It is a liquid concentrate that must be diluted with water and used as a spray.

After application, allow the treated area to dry. This will take about 2-3 hours. After the liquid id dry, it is safe to come in contact with

Q. Stickbugs control product?
I am inundated with stink bugs. Is there any "positive"way to be sure to safely get rid of them?
A.  Masterline Bifenthrin may be the most effective way to rid of stink bugs. It is safe for you indoors and outdoors after the treated areas are dry.

The stink bugs are entering inside from outdoors, this can be anywhere in the basement, attic, or in the living floors where there is a window or entry way, or any crack and crevice on your structure.

To prevent them from entering, something called a "barrier treatment" is going to need to be applied. This is creating a barrier around the perimeter of your structure with the diluted solution of Masterline Bifenthrin and water. From the base of the structure, you will need to spray about 4 feet high and 4 feet out, also spraying around window frames, door frame, the garage door frame, and any utility pipes that are leading to the inside of the structure.

Indoors, you should spray where you are seeing infestations, window sills, entry door frames (front door, back door, door to garage).

You will also need to seal any open cracks and crevices. It sounds like hard work, once you begin, it should be a non-difficult task. Also, please keep in mind that you should always read the product label thoroughly before applying any professional pesticide. Also, when the pesticide is applied, please allow at least 2-3 hours for the solution to dry before you come in contact with the treated area again.

If you have any further questions regarding Masterline Bifenthrin, dilution rates, or how to apply Masterline Bifenthrin, please feel free to contact us again via e-mail or telephone at 1-800-788-4142.

A.  Thank you for contacting us with your concern. Bifenthrin is the best active ingredient to fight against Stink Bugs. Some Bifenthrin products would be Masterline Bifenthrine. However, because of the possible medical conditions involved, we do not recommend that you use any pesticides until having consulted with your physician.

Q. stink bugs in the house?
We are quite upset with the stink bugs that crawl into our living room, bedroom, famly room. I get about 10-14 a night. Any way i can find out how they get in and eliminate this pests? Is your sparys or powders for my family. . We live in a wooded area. Help us out pls. Thanks
A.  Yes, stink bugs have become a huge nuisance.

Stink Bug are overwintering because of the weather and coming in from all entrypoints of the house. This may be any cracks and crevices from the outside of the structure, any utility pipes that may lead to the inside of the home, cracked windows and doors, the garage, etc.

Talstar Pro is a liquid concentrate that you dilute with water and apply as a spray. It is an insecticide that you can use both indoor and outdoor.

Because they are coming from outdoors and trying to find a warmer place to stay, the most effective thing to do may be a barrier or perimeter treatment. This means exactly what the treatment states, create a barrier around your home. From the base of the structure, you will spray up the structure 3-4 feet and from the base of the structure, you will spray out 3-4 feet.

You will also need to spray around any window frames, door frames, the garage door frame, and any utility pipes that lead inside the home. Indoors, you will need to treat windowsills and door frames, paying attention to all the places that you are spotting them.

They are attracted to light and bright colors, particularly yellow, and so during the day, you may be seeing them often on the windows or window sills. Talstar Pro has about a 2-3 months residual time and so you will need to re-treat your home every 2-3 months until you no longer see an infestation.

Also, when you are using the insecticide, you leave the treated area alone to dry until coming in contact again with that area. This typically takes about 3 hours. Also, please thoroughly review the Sink bugs control product label before using any professional pesticide.

Q. brown marmorated stink bug?
What affect does your brown marmorated stink bug spray and powder have on pets? I have a cat and a dog don't want to harm them.
A.  It all depends on what product you want to purchase. Most brown marmorated stink bug aerosol sprays are safe to use indoors as long as the treated areas are left to dry before people or animals come in contact with the treated area again.

There are some liquid brown marmorated stink bug insecticides that are safe to use indoors as well. Dust products are usually NOT safe or consumable for small children and animals.

However, dust products are used for spot treatment in areas of very little or no traffic. Although they treat areas with little or no traffic, there are chances that animals or small children may find the dust. There is just one dust that is natural which is Mother Earth Dust. However, all dusts can be inhaled during application which may potentially be harmful.

Therefore, when you are using indoor pesticides, you must remove the animal and all people from the treated area until the pesticide is dry (typically about 2-3 hours after treatment). Also, keep in mind that all product labels must be thoroughly reviewed before use.

Q. brown stink bugs?
The stink bugs have taken over my garage and i wouldlike to know what i can to get rid of them.Is it possible to fog the garage. Pleas advise milton
A.  Fogging is not recommended because it has a very small long term effect. Talstar Pro is a brown stink bugs liquid insecticide that you dilute with water and use as a spray. In your garage, apply the spray around the garage door frame where they can be coming in from and also, it is advised to do a barrier treatment around the perimeter of the structure.

Q. marmorated stink bug?
What products do you suggest for stink bugs in the attic? They come in via the roof ridge vent and the smallest cracks between soffit and siding.
A.  Good Morning, Thank you for contacting us with your concern. For the control of Brown marmorated stink bugs, the active ingredient bifenthrine works best. Some products I can recommend would be Talstar Pro, Masterline Bifenthrine, or Bifen IT. It is recommended that you spray both indoors and outdoors where ever you believe they are foraging in from. Stink bugs cannot reproduce indoors because they do not have a food source to host on. Therefore they will not be able to servive long once they manage to get indoors. If there is anything else we can assist you with. Please contact us via email, chat, or by phone.

Q. Stink Bugs in a car, lots of them?
Any idea what I should use? Thank you for now I know you don't carry an organic product. I still have the critters. Any suggestion.
A.  For cars, you could use an aerosol, such as CY-Kick Aerosol. It is perfectly safe after it has dried and has a residual time for a week or two.

Q. Stink Bugs - Kill or Repel?
I am an Ortho Home Defender fan. However, it is not working real well against my stink bug problem! So what is the best product to kill/repel from the outside of house? If I can control the outside problem, then I don't think I will have an inside problem. I believe their entry points are the doors, when they open they come in, I have two dogs, two adult kids, one grandchild. I am afraid with the amount on the outside of the house that the inside might become a problem. Right now for inside control I use a string mop for removal off my ceiling and walls, cup them and flush them! I can also spot spray them with a mixture of bleach, detergent, water and a healthy dose of Raid Wasp and Hornet Spray (the later brings down and kills almost anything, almost instantly, except of course stink bugs by itself, mixed it gets the stink bugs in about five minutes). So basically I'm looking for the best product to spray the outside of the house to repel them from the house. I really don't want to do the trial method. I just want something that will work. Thank you in advance.
A.  I would recommend SUSPEND SC for the control of stink bugs as it has a 3 month residual time ant 40% of it's active ingredient content.

Q. Stink Bug eliminate?
I moved into a 3rd floor high-rise condo building near Philadelphia last September. It is a brick structure. My unit is on a corner and has a wrap-around balcony. However, sometimes I can't sit out there because of the bothersome sting bugs. They cling to the sliding screen doors so much, sometimes I can't even open the glass doors for air. I'm not a fan of air conditioning, preferring the open air feeling. The building is well maintained, and management does have a regular exterminating service. Is there anything I could ask them to do to my balcony area to help eliminate the problem? I don't think they would allow me to screen it in, as none of the other units have done that. They have strict regulations, but I am thinking about asking anyway. Are there any hanging hanging bugs catchers that might help?
A.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with the stink bugs on your balcony. Stink bugs actually cannot reproduce indoors because they need a food source to host on such as: sap from plants and juices from other bugs; so for outdoor use, I would recommend using a residual spray such as Masterline Bifenthrin 7.9, Demon WP, or Talstar One.

It is approved for outdoor use, as well as indoor residential use. It is very long-lasting, as stink bugs are most active outdoors during the Spring time.

It is odorless, non-staining, and non-irritating. We have three different Stink Bug Kits on our website, or you could purchase the residual separately with a gallon sprayer. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. Stink Bugs Treatment Products ?
Your products sound great. What are Stink bugs attracted too in our home? Other than keep on spraying, how to get rid of them permanently.?? If I could find out what attracts them, I would get rid of that. Thanks Please advise
A.

Stink bugs are attracted to plants and light. Plants are the primary source of food for stink bugs.

Therefore plants inside your home could be a source of their attraction. Also, due to the cold weather these days many stink bugs forage indoors. Stink bugs come from outdoors because they cannot reproduce indoors.

You should try using a residual insecticide such as MasterLine Bifenthrin 7.9 and spray it around the outside premises of your home, along the walls.

Q. stinkbug infestation?
What's the difference between deltamethrin and bifenthrin when using against BMSB stinkbugs? I've bought Suspend SC and dust from you before BTW.
A.

Those two are active ingredients that are most commonly used for general insect control.

For instance, our two most popular products, Talstar Pro and Suspend SC, use these two active ingredients (Talstar Pro: bifenthrin active ingredient and Suspend SC: deltamethrin active ingredient).

Recently, researchers have said that insecticides with a deltamethrin active ingredient may last longer but we have noticed that the bifenthrin active ingredient is more effective against true bugs or beetles type bugs.

Q. WILL CONFIDOR GET RID OF STINK BUGS ON LIME TREES?
A.  Since we do not carry that product, we do not have much information on it. To our knowledge though, Confidor is made of an Imidacloprid active ingredient. We also know that active ingredients that typically end in -thrin like Deltamethrin, Bifenthrin, and etc. are especially effective against stink bugs. Therefore, we don't suppose that Confidor will be effective. Unfortunately though, it is difficult to suggest products to apply to fruit plants or vegetable gardens.

Q. STINKING STING BUGS !!!?
OMG---I am 61 and have Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and no immunity. I get Gamma Globulin IV Infusions every month because of my lack of immunity. This past summer was my worst!!! I was sick 24 hours a day for the past year. I refuse to take steroids because of how ill they make me, but now I am really sick!!! Last weekend, stink bugs, that I have dealt with crawling across my TV at night, coming inside my patio door, windows, etc. became WILD!!! It was very warm outside after being cold at nights. I killed 40 on my patio screen door on Sat. I kept spraying a house and garden spray but it seemed to make them more ALIVE!!! I finall began freezing them on the screen with cans of hairspray and then picking them off with paper towels. It smelled so bad in my apt. I live in an apt. and have a balcony on the 5th floor. I went out on Sun., when it was warm again, and moved my grill that is covered with a black grill cover--inside and under the grill and cover were about 40 more of these little eeeewww things!! Then I moved a beach umbrella that I had, and they were inside there. I shook everything out and swept them away. Tonight, Saturday night, after our dear Phillies lost to the Giants, I went out to cover my indoor plants from the cold. I accidently carried in a stink bug on my sock. I picked it up with a used tissue, put it in the toilet, literrally urinated on it and flushed it. But I kept smelling it. My hands are raw from scrubbing them. Anyway, I decided to go out and look under my things that I had cleaned them away from last week and a few dozen more were back. I swept them away, as they were "drowsy"---it's cold tonight. I am having my patio door looked at onTues. because they are coming in there, definintely. But then I remembered that I had a beach chair that I had covered all summer with 2 black large plastic trash bags!!! I went out and took the bags off and they were full of bugs!!! Also, under the chair, were tons of the damn things. I hate them. When I came in, I kept smelling them and realized that I had to remove my socks and clothing!!! And again I washed up. Oh, these are so bad. I can't spray inside because of my illnesses. I'm also having a problem with small grey moths that have invaded me from somewhere and I can't find them. I have NEVER had trouble with bugs in here for 8 years. I'm using lavender-scented moth-ball packets that I don't know whether they help or not for the moths. I am SO sick of bugs--HOW CAN YOU DEAL WITH THEM DAY IN AND DAY OUT??? THEY ARE MAKING ME CRAZY!!!. It's my understanding that our government brought these stink bugs from China to eat a bug that was infesting crops in the Lancaster, PA area. They didn't work on those bugs and now we have them. I've lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA all my life and I never remember these things EVER!! The smell makes me have asthma attacks. I also have had a year of headaches and I wonder if it is from them?? What do you have that I can buy to use outside to prevent them from coming inside?? It has to be something that I will not smell. This building is 50 years old and the windows are quite un-airtight. The rental office says MOVE if I can't handle it. They do nothing about it. Right now, at 2:20 AM, I have my grill burning in case any of them being in there. I got a mycobacterium chelonae infection all over my face 5 years ago that caused large pustules spurting volumes of spinach-green pus out of my beautiful face!!! I still have nightmares. Now I'm wondering if these bugs had anything to do with it because the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania infectious disease doctors insisted that I had to have been in a Third-World country to pick up that bacteria! I have not been outside of my home area since 2001!!! I go nowhere. I HATE these things--they are giving me a nervous breakdown !!! I also have a deck storage box out there of which I am so afraid to open. I'll bet that it is loaded---it has never been before and I'm in there each Fall, Christmas, and Easter. But we had heavy humidity this past summer and I'm so scared of what I will find. Please tell me what you think would be best for me with my health problems and that I could use outside??? Any help that you may give me would be greatly appreciated--I am so tired and sick. Your article was very, very insightful. Thank you.
A.  Unfortunately, since there are health risks involved, we will not be able to suggest you to use any insecticides. Instead, consider using some glue boards that will trap the insects. Glue boards are effective because they do not have any sort of chemical content. If you insist in using an insecticide, you can place an order with us for such products like Talstar or Suspend, but we advise that you hire a professional to apply the insecticides.

Q. How do I get rid of brown bugs on my vegetables??
I noticed tons of brown bugs (looks a little like ladybugs) all over my basil, mint, and tomato plants. They have only been there for a couple of days. There is no noticable damage to the plants, but there are hundreds of them. How can I get rid of them?
A.  We believe that the bugs that you are talking about are the Kudzu bugs which are a type of stink bug. Unfortunately, we do not have any products that can be applied to your vegetable plants in your garden. Normally, on non-fruit bearing plants and trees or in gardens that do not bear fruits or vegetables, inanimate objects and surfaces, and indoors, we will recommend an insecticide called Lambdastar 9.7 but this product cannot be applied to a vegetable garden.

Q. how can i safely get rid of stink bugs in my home??
I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH STINK BUGS IN MY HOME. I ALSO HAVE A 3YR DAUGHTER AND I WAS CURIOUS IF YOU COULD RECOMMEND SOMETHING SAFE TO USE IN MY HOME AROUND HER... THANKS SO MUCH FOR UR TIME
A.  Stink bugs require more than just a insecticide treatment. You must make sure that you enhance exclusion by checking the perimeter for potential entry points. We also recommend doing a perimeter barrier treatment with a pyrethroid insecticide (Suspend SC, Talstar Pro, LambdaStar 9.7). Indoors, insecticide is only applied as a spot treatment and in cracks and crevices and so application is limited to the baseboards, windowsills, doorframes, and etc. All treated areas must be completely dried before you come in contact with the treated area again. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. My stink bug problem is mostly outdoor?
I have many stink bugs on the exterior of the house. There are a few inside but not critical. I have a lawn and blue rug scrubs and mulch in the lawn area. What would the best product for lasting outdoor application
A.  For stink bugs, we recommend a pyrethroid insecticide which is an insecticide that uses a pyrethroid active ingredient like Deltamethrin, Bifenthrin, Cyfluthrin or etc. Of the products we carry, we usually recommend Suspend SC, Talstar Pro, OR Cykick-CS. Any of these products can be used outdoors on ornamentals and on the lawn to kill stink bugs as long as it is not near a fruit tree or a vegetable garden. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.
