Q.looking for grtting rid of bird mites
A.Unfortunately, we do not have any insecticides that specifically label bird mites. We have noted that bird mites have become a problem as of late. We also know that because they reproduce very quickly, are very persistent, and also can host on people, they are very aggravating and stressful. Although we do not have any insecticides that will specifically target bird mites, we would like to assist you in the best way that we can. Sanitation and thorough cleaning on a regular (daily) basis is required as well. This will mean that vacuuming on a daily basis is required. Vacuum thoroughly in areas like cracks and crevices by the baseboards, under the furniture, as well as around areas like the windows on window sills and doors. After vacuuming, remove and clean the bin or the vacuum bag and dispose of the bag or the contents in a bin in an airtight sealed bag. We also recommend steam cleaning with a steam cleaner. The hot temperatures of the steam will penetrate deeply into the carpets. Chemical treatment can also be done with insecticides. Although we do not have any insecticides that specifically target bird mites, we have had customers suggest insecticides to us that have worked for them in the past. The three insecticides that are mixed together and sprayed on surfaces are Onslaught Insecticide, NyGuard IGR, and Exponent Insecticide Synergist. These three are diluted in water with a specific dilution rate into a gallon of water. Please keep in mind that we do not have a guarantee on any of these products because we are not the manufacturer of the product and this is especially true for bird mites, because bird mites are not specifically labeled on the product label as a target pest. Onslaught Insecticide is the killing agent in the mix. It has a residual of 2-3 months and has to be sprayed once every 2 months indoors. Outdoors, it should be sprayed once every month. The Exponent Insecticide Synergist has no killing effect whatsoever. However, for bird mites that are very persistent, a synergist is necessary. It escalates the effectiveness of the Onslaught. Lastly, the Nyguard IGR also does not have a killing effect; however, Nyguard IGR controls the reproduction of the insect pests. As the insect molts or physically matures, it prohibits them from physically developing; therefore, they are unable to reproduce.
